Cupping/Gua Sha (Needleless stimulation)
Ancient Umbrella of Chinese Medicine Techniques other than Acupuncture:
Cupping: glass globes with an ignited flame to the interior. When placed on the acupuncture point, they draw out stagnation and address the functionality of the specific acupuncture point used.
Gua Sha: repeated scraping method used with oil and a gua sha tool over the acupuncture point. Brings blood flow, cleanses the channel of sha.
PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS TYPE OF TREATMENT AS A NEW PATIENT. TRADITIONAL APPT. NEEDED.
Moxibustion: penetrating heat into the acupuncture point (needleless therapy)
Dried mugwort is burned to create significant heat that warms and activates the acupuncture point.
Note that moxa is smoky and smelly. Hair, skin, and clothes will retain the smell of moxibustion until washed.
This is contraindicated for patients who are too warm.
NEW PATIENT PREREQUISITE TO THIS TYPE OF APPOINTMENT IS A TRADITIONAL ACUPUNCTURE APPOINTMENT BECAUSE OF TIME CONSTRAINTS.
Needle-less Acupoint Therapy: Acupressure and Electro-therapeutics
For those who are afraid of needles! This is a longer session with the practitioner.
Application of Traditional Chinese Medicine qi balancing techniques used in acupuncture, but without the needles. Here the practitioner uses their hands as a tool to stimulate points. Handheld electrical stimulators are used as well to conduct the flow of qi.
